A DIY Davao Itinerary Trip
The rustic charm of Davao City has drawn me to it ever since I came for a visit. It was for a quick tour. We stayed from one place to another and each stop felt like I had to stay a longer time because I really loved each place. The second time I went there, I already had a list of where I wanted to go. I was originally planning to come back to Davao but the onset of the pandemic led to one lockdown after another. Despite this, I am hopeful that I will still get back to the place. So here’s a DIY Davao trip of the best places to visit in Davao, you surely don’t want to miss. There are a lot of resorts in Davao City but these spots always guarantee a great time.
Roxas Night Market. Filled with all kinds of Davao delicacies and street food favorites, this one is by the books. From your favorite barbeque all the way to the infamous charcoal ice cream, this one is something you should definitely look forward to. The Roxas Avenue Night Market begins at the crossroads near the Marco Polo hotel and continues for about 1 kilometer southeast down Roxas Avenue. The first half is food stalls, most offering the usual pick n’ grill favourites of skewered chicken, beef, pork belly, and tuna, but you can also find vendors selling balut and some fried foods, as well.
Bagobo School of Living Tradition. This school of living tradition can be found behind a Bagobo-themed restaurant which is also part of this cultural offering if you’re looking for a piece of tradition to immerse in. The Bagobo School of Living Tradition mainly displays the Bagobos traditional weaving. They walk you through a glimpse of the process from individually combing the abaca to tinting them and weaving each strand together to form intricate patterns which turns out to be very difficult and time-consuming but something you’ll appreciate as you look at the final outputs displayed in their humble kubo-inspired workshop.
Malagos Garden Resort. If you haven’t been here you might be asking what to do in Malagos? There are tons of Malagos activities to choose from: various interactive animal shows such as the bird show, animal encounter, and the raptor show, a tree to bar chocolate tour for an immersion into how artisan chocolates are made, their indoor and outdoor museums, and my favorite activity by far — dining and enjoying their farm-to-table meals in their ala carte and buffet restaurants. They have the best Davao chocolate in town too! So make sure to grab some when you’re in the area.
Make sure to be in these places when you are in the City. Each one has their own charm you have to see!
