Whenever I go on vacation, I make sure to get the best experience for myself. I usually prefer to go alone because vacations are like my “me time.” It allows me to think more clearly and just get to know myself even more. I have friends who want to go hiking and sweat off the stress. They have climbed numerous mountains already and I’m proud of them. Then there are also some people I know who look for places with top shopping malls, and go on a shopping spree when they are on a break. That’s their thing too. As for me, I usually head to the beach. I’m not much of an extravagant tourist. In fact, I prefer backpacking because I don’t want to bring too much stuff other than what I really need.

Before COVID, I would hunt for the perfect beach resorts in the country. I’ve been to a lot already and so far my favorite ones are Siquijor and Baler. They’re not overrated, they don’t offer the best views unlike Palawan or Boracay. But the peaceful vibe while being there gives my brain a lot of clarity. But unfortunately, due to the pandemic, all my beach plans this year were put on hold. I didn’t really mind at first, but as time went by, I miss the beach more and more. I don’t want to go to Samal because that’s the most overrated place there is. Plus, their accommodation and all the stuff there is so overpriced! I don’t want to go to Mati either because I’m sure that all people from Davao are going to flock there now that FM pass is lifted. So I tried to search for more serene places and I found an exclusive beach resort in Davao Oriental. It’s actually Governor Generoso’s new beach resort called Camp Bernardino de Lavigan. I immediately got my medical clearance and settled my travel documents and the next day, I went to that place by myself. And wow, it was amazing! It’s really the unique island living experience that I’ve been craving for. The same thing I felt at Siquijor and Baler. It’s like my new favorite spot now. What to do in Camp Bernardino de Lavigan? Definitely a lot. You can enjoy their abundant seafood, go snorkeling, diving, sailing, and get to know more about the place while you talk to the locals! You can also check out their website to know more what the place has to offer.
